Blue whales - whale watching busselton

Blue Whales arrive in Geographe Bay

2013

We have had an amazing week with two tours sighting Blue Whales this week – one pair only 800m off the Busselton Jetty!

Blue Whales are the largest animal on the planet – growing up to 100ft long and weighing up to 200 tonnes.  They cruise through Geographe Bay regularly from mid-October through to early December.  We don’t see them as regularly as we do our beloved Humpbacks but when we do, WOW!

This pair turned toward the boat and rolled on their side as they cruised past.  We didn’t have the camera in hand as they did that but these are some of the shots we took afterward.
