Geographe Bay Whale Watching

The protected waters of Geographe Bay in Western Australia’s South West becomes a “nursery” from the whale migration from September to December, as whale mothers and their young stop in to feed and strengthen before they continue into the Southern Ocean.

A combination of warmer weather of the spring – summer season, clear, calm seas and abundance of migratory whale numbers is the reason why Geographe Bay is widely regarded as one of the best places in the world for whale watching. It’s a truly magical experience to protective mothers, feeding calves and experience the ‘whale song’ for which the Humpbacks are famous.

In addition to Humpbacks, Southern Rights and Minke whales, every year we are increasing numbers of the rare and endangered Blue whale – world’s largest animal. Blue Whales are normally only seen in Antarctica, but have been increasingly sighted in Geographe Bay over the last few years.

Legend Charters conducts whale watching cruises twice daily, in Geographe Bay for the months of  September, October and November departing 9.30am and 1.00pm from the Iconic Busselton Jetty, Busselton. This tour provides the comfort of stepping onboard from Jetty platform.
